I have the Polar Rose browser plugin correctly installed but I still don't see any roses?
Are you viewing a page that contains photographs which show peoples faces? The Polar Rose browser plugin detects faces in photographs, while we aim to detect all types of faces all of the time we cannot guarantee that a specific face can be detected. Examples of faces that we might not be able to detect are: excessively blurred or distorted faces, faces that are smaller than 24 pixels in height or width or faces which are partially obscured by other objects.
Have you disabled the Polar Rose browser plugin the status bar menu? You can enable or disable the Polar Rose browser plugin in the status bar menu at the bottom of the browser window. If the Polar Rose browser plugin is disabled it will show a grey rose, if it is enabled the rose will be red. If you cant see any status bar at all you can enable it in your browsers "View" menu.

How do I use the Polar Rose browser plugin?
When the Polar Rose browser plugin detects people in an online photograph a rose icon will appear below and to the right of the persons face. If the rose is orange the person is unnamed, if the rose is red then the person has an associated name or names. Clicking on the rose will show the plugin overlay.
If the person has not been named before you can add a name by clicking in the text input field or on the green "Add a name" button in the plugin overlay. If the person has been named before you can agree to the existing name by clicking the "Agree" button or add a new name of your own by clicking the link "Enter a new name". Adding a name to a person or agreeing to a name will make the person show up in your found page.
At any time after naming a person or agreeing to a name you can edit the name by clicking inside the text input field or on the green "Edit" button.

How do I set a user avatar?
You can set the detected face as your user avatar by selecting the corresponding checkbox labelled: "Set this as my user avatar" in the plugin overlay. The detected face will then be shown as your user avatar on the Polar Rose website.
-
Why doesn't the name I added to a person appear as the main (top) name?
When you add a new name to a person that has been named before - your entered name may be added to the AKA (Also known as) list. Which name gets presented as the main name (in the dfield at the top of the plugin overlay) and which gets shown in the AKA list is dependent on how many unique users have given the same name to a specific person - this amount is shown in the label above the text input field and in parenthesis after each name in the AKA list.
-
What do I do if I see roses on things which are not faces?
If you see a rose that appears on something other than a face please name it as "bug". These images will be analyzed by our vision team and will help to improve our face detection.

Why do I get "session expiration" errors when using the Polar Rose Name Tagger?
Were you inactive for a long period of time? If you pause for a long period of time during the naming process your connection to the Polar Rose servers can expire or be disconnected, usually this only happens if we have many users trying to connect to the Name Tagger at the same time. You should return to your photo album and launch the Name Tagger again.
Another reason may be that several users are trying to name the same set of photos at the same time. This would also happen if you had more than one instance of the Name Tagger running in another browser tab/window, in another browser or on another computer. Close all instances of the Name Tagger then return to your photo album and launch the Name Tagger again.
